One of the key differentiator between one day over other is our state of mind. Somedays you just wake up sober, while the other lot more energetic. Often we blame our surroundings, instead it’s within our sub conscious mind.
Let’s say, you are going on a holiday tomorrow. The likely hood of you waking up with full of excitement and charm is pretty high than your routine days.
Having something to look forward to keeps up the excitement and naturally makes you all the more productive. One might feel, having something to look forward is often not under our control. If not completely definitely you can influence it.
If you have a productive day, the level of satisfaction end of the day is naturally high. In order to have a productive day, it helps to start your day on a positive note with right attitude in mind. Having something to look forward on start of your day naturally keeps the ball rolling.
All that sounds hunky dory, how do we have something to look forward to on a daily basis ?
For starters, you might start with Goals. Not long term but daily goals, which could be granular parts of your long term goal.
While most of the tasks during your day could be routine, but investing few minutes to write a journal end of the day prepares you for the next day. Keep your journal as crisp and brief as possible. For example top 3 items for each of the questions below
What are you grateful for today ?
What you wish you could have done better ?
What are top priority things you would like to work on tomorrow ?
Writing a journal helps you clear your mind and helps you focus on the most important things that matters to you. It creates a mental model on what you are looking forward to for the day.
Sometimes as a bonus you could look forward to some no task fun activities too, like watching a movie or dinner (outside your journal ;) )
Counting your blessing and having daily goals and a sense of achievement from those can literally go a long way.
