Each one of our life is running behind goals. Be it personal or professional life. But what's more important in life is the journey and not the destination. You can't enjoy the destination as much as you would expect if your journey was painful.
For example, Let's say you are in a well-paying job. You might be happy to see your bank balance at end of the month (Destination), but if you had to stress out without work-life balance would you relish it as much as if you really enjoyed your every day at work.
Let's say you finally go for your dream vacation. You end up reaching your destination, but before that, if you had to sweat through flight delays/cancellations or loss of your baggage, would it be as much fun as had everything gone as per plan.
I'm not saying reaching your destination/goal isn't great, instead, it would be greater if you really enjoy your journey to the destination than just the destination.
Let's have a peek into how do you enjoy the journey in order to relish the destination more. First and foremost,
Ensure whatever you do aligns with your interest.
It's okay to deviate slightly but not on a regular basis by a huge margin.
For example, you might not enjoy shop hopping but might do it once in a while for your spouse. But if it becomes an every weekend affair, would you really enjoy it. You would probably start inventing excuses to give to your spouse.
On a larger scale, let's if you are working on a project which potentially runs for months.
The key to keeping you going in a sustainable manner for a long is to have your daily momentum up.
Then the next billion $ question is
Question : How do I keep up my momentum on a daily basis?
Answer : An Incremental Progress.
Which is more fun ?
Cycling in a gym
Cycling out in nature.
Imagine a video game without any levels to cross. Would it have wide user acceptance?
We need to find ways to keep up our momentum. Let's say you are cycling uphill and you find it tiring to pedal. If you maintain a decent speed (momentum) it would still be easier to keep pedaling. Instead, if you halt and try to start all over again, it only gets tougher.
You can find many such instances in your day to day life. Be it. work, parenting, schooling, etc. It certainly gets overwhelming when we look at the big picture.
In order to not give up and keep you going, face 1 day, 1 problem at a time, and progress made one at a time is the key to keep up the momentum and eventually reach the destination as well.
